Background Family–school connections during the transition from preschool to primary school are crucial, as they serve bridge gap between home and learning environments. In order support children’s engagement throughout their career, more needs be understood about factors that contribute successful or difficult experiences this critical period.Purpose This case study was part of Children’s School Lives (CSL) national longitudinal Irish schooling. It aimed gain an in-depth understanding mothers’ family–school connectivity child’s in Ireland, exploring how these helped them manage transition.Method A qualitative, interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) approach used investigate preschool. The drew on data collected semi-structured interviews carried out with five mothers children who had started school.Findings Overall, findings suggested positive period indicated high levels trust teachers abilities. Mothers expressed a desire active participants experience, well develop quality through regular communication familiarity environment. However, identified among were mixed.Conclusion offers insight into need consistent policy practice across schools terms opportunities contact teachers, parent–school activities held by schools. highlights importance creating strong bridges families for entering school.
